The Experience
A Uniquely Annapolis Experience
The Hotel
Originally constructed in 1878 as a large, duplex-style mansion by famed Annapolitan Alexander Randall, this famous Annapolis structure writes a new chapter as the finest boutique hotel in the Chesapeake region. Its Queen Anne architecture is a Victorian style characterized by playful, asymmetrical designs featuring a mix of textures and materials. Whether arriving for a weekend escape or a celebration of life's finer moments, guests enter a world where every detail is deliberate, every comfort considered, and every experience elevated.
The Black Pearl
A Private Parlour of Indulgence
Hidden behind brick archways and bathed in a golden hush, The Black Pearl is 86 State Circle’s most intimate revelation—an invitation-only lounge inspired by the elegance and decadence of the 1920s era. Reserved exclusively for our guests, it is a space designed for savoring: moments, stories, and the luxury of time.
Rich textures and warm wood tones meet softly mirrored walls and moody uplighting, creating a setting that feels at once clandestine and timeless. High ceilings and refined ornamentation evoke a bygone glamour.
Just beyond, a private wine room offers a hushed retreat—intimate, reflective, and designed for those who savor the long finish of the pause.
The Black Pearl is not announced. It is discovered.

Design Philosophy
History Reawakened
The interiors of 86 State Circle – Luxury Boutique Hotel are a study in elegant duality—where the soul of a historic home is thoughtfully reimagined for the modern traveler. Every detail has been considered, every gesture intentional. The result is a seamless dialogue between past and present, restraint and richness, legacy and reinvention.
Original architectural elements—arched brickwork, high ceilings, wainscoting, and period moldings—have been preserved and celebrated. These storied foundations are paired with contemporary finishes: soft matte metals, bespoke furnishings, ambient lighting, and a warm, tonal palette that nods to the Chesapeake landscape.
The atmosphere throughout is quietly dramatic. Layered and textural, refined but never austere, the spaces invite discovery and comfort in equal measure.
At 86 State Circle, history is not merely remembered. It is reawakened—with style, soul, and sophistication.

Experiences & Services
Luxury, here, is not simply defined by what is offered—but how it is offered. From the moment of arrival, every interaction is imbued with quiet thoughtfulness. Our guest services team orchestrates each stay with precision and grace—whether arranging a private sailing excursion on the Chesapeake, a curated dining experience in Historic Annapolis, or an in-room haircut.
Valet service is seamless. Afternoon tea is available upon request. And no detail is too small to merit our full attention.
We don't just respond to your needs. We anticipate them.

The Parlor Room
Not merely a space, but a welcome.
As you step inside 86 State Circle – Luxury Boutique Hotel, you’re received not at a front desk, but into a parlor—our quietly luxurious lobby and lounge, conceived as a private living room for discerning guests. Sunlight filters through tall windows, catching on gold accents and soft ivory walls. Every detail, from the tailored seating to the hand-finished molding, speaks to a design sensibility rooted in heritage.
A grand fireplace anchors the room, its mantel adorned with slender candlesticks and gilded mirrors that recall the genteel traditions of Annapolis townhomes. Neutral tones and plush textures offer a sense of calm sophistication, while fresh florals and curated coffee table books invite slow moments and quiet observation.
This is a place to pause before an afternoon stroll through town—or to return to, with a glass in hand and the sense of having arrived not at a hotel, but at home.

The Dining Room
Graced with rich hardwood floors and bathed in natural light, the Dining Room at 86 State Circle is an intimate setting for elegant breakfasts, private afternoon teas, and the occasional candlelit supper. Tufted banquettes and velvet navy chairs gather around polished mahogany tables, while antique brass sconces and a stately fireplace lend a hushed sophistication.

The Garden Terrace
The manicured grounds of 86 State Circle unfold with quiet grandeur—a stone path winding through time-honored flora and sculpted hedges, inviting guests to linger amid beauty and breeze. From the garden’s secluded bench and refined seating area, uninterrupted views of the Maryland State House offer a scene as stately as the setting itself.

The Local Area
Nestled on the distinguished State Circle, 86 State Circle is more than a hotel—it is a testament to Annapolis's enduring elegance and historical significance. Constructed in 1880 by Alexander Randall, a prominent U.S. Congressman and Maryland Attorney General, the residence exemplifies English Queen Anne architecture, distinguished by its high brick foundation, intricate fish-scale shingles, and ornate chimney caps.
Positioned directly across from the Maryland State House—the oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use—our location offers guests unparalleled access to the city's rich tapestry of history. Within a leisurely stroll, discover the United States Naval Academy, the Governor's Mansion, and the charming boutiques and eateries of Main Street.
At 86 State Circle – Luxury Boutique Hotel, guests are invited to immerse themselves in a setting where the past and present converge, offering an experience that is both authentically Annapolitan and luxuriously timeless.
